Requirements for the calling – Mark 8 : 34 – 38
1. Self denial, why? It is a call to serve, not to rule, not to be served, not for a reward or for a gain. It is a service to God and His people. As Jesus laid down His life for all, so does He wants the called out to do for His kingdom.

- Take your cross – be ready to suffer shame, ridicule, and name calling for the kingdom
- Follow me and help build my church. Matthew 16 : 16 – 19
- The need for leaders – Isaiah 6 : 8; Jeremiah 3 : 15 – 18
- The harvest is ready. Matthew 9 : 36 – 38

- Moses was called to deliver God’s people – Exodus 3 : 1 – 10
- Samuel was called a statesman. 1 Samuel 3 : 8 – 12
- David was called to rule the nation of God. 1 Samuel 16 : 1 – 13
- Jeremiah called to be a prophet. Jeremiah 1 : 4 – 5
- Jesus came to save sinner and build His church. Matthew 16 – 18 – 19
- Paul was called to be an apostle to the gentiles.
